Welcome to the website of the United Benefice of Ticehurst and Flimwell.
The civil parish of Ticehurst includes the villages of Stonegate and Flimwell and until Victorian times this also applied to the ecclesiastical parish. In the late 1830’s Stonegate and then Flimwell became Chapelry districts and were later granted full status as ecclesiastical parishes. The population of the ecclesiastical parishes are approximately 800 (Flimwell) and 3000 (Ticehurst). Ticehurst and Flimwell have shared an incumbent since 1978.
The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin in Ticehurst, East Sussex has two services every Sunday. The earliest fabric of the building is 14th century and is surrounded by three acres of churchyard. St Mary’s are holders of the Eco Church Gold Award from 2022. We are also Animal Friendly Church of the Year 2020 (joint winner, awarded by ASWA).
The Parish Church of St Augustine of Canterbury in Flimwell, East Sussex has two services a month, on the second and fourth Sundays. Of particular interest at St Augustine’s is the chancel, with its mosaic panelling and beautifully carved rood screen.

We offer a monthly rotation of services across both churches designed to appeal to all ages and backgrounds. Whether you are a resident new to the village or a visitor come and join us we would be delighted to meet you.
Many services are followed by informal opportunities to meet neighbours and new friends over coffee giving you the chance to make new friends.
